Last night, my friend and I were planning to play slow speed with our camera. The photo hunting took place around our college which has a new landmark: a big fountain with letter made of steel spelled STAN in the center of it.
In my opinion, I dont really like the composition. The background was really poor that you can see the building behind is still under construction. Another thing that I dont like is the lighting. It’s still under exposed except the letters STAN which is exposed by the fountain lamp. What I like from this photo? The letters’ reflection on the water surface. I caught it!
Some Notes:
- Always charge your battery before go taking photos. I’ve only managed to shoot few photos before I ran out my battery life. Slow speed technique surely consumes more battery life.

After took photos of splashing water, this morning I took photos of smoke. Again, I’m inspired by a video by Gavin Howey. The process was fast and easy, it took only about 10 minutes to prepare them all.
I always believe what count is the man behind the camera. No matter what is your camera and lenses, if you dont know how to …

I think it looks great! I would suggest opening up your aperture to throw the background buildings out of focus, but if you’re going for a long exposure, you need the small aperture. You could try a neutral density filter I guess.
The letter are very contrasty, which I like, and the reflection is supurb.
I get my own 450D (It’s called a Rebel XSi here in the US) on Monday!
Thanks Andrew.
450d??!! Awesome! Looking forward for your next photos.
